The 2020 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster is fast (it has an AMG twin-turbo V8), but it’s the electric folding roof that’s setting all the records.
The electric Z-fold mechanism can lower the roof in 6.7s, and raise it in 6.8s. Usually electric fabric soft tops take about 13s to go up or down.
The Vantage Roadster’s roof can open or close at speeds up to 50km/h (31mph). And it’s much more attractive than the coupe. Just sayin’
Just like the Vantage coupe, the Roadster has 4L twin-turbo V8 from AMG (but tuned by Aston Martin) with 375kW (503hp) and 685Nm (505 lb-ft). RWD and a 8-speed ZF auto are standard. The 0-60mph time is 3.7s, and a top speed is 306km/h (190mph).
Handling is helped by standard adaptive damping, torque vectoring and an electronic rear differential.
Deliveries begin during Q2 2020, and the Vantage Roadster is priced from £126,950 in the UK (£12,100 more than the coupe), €157,300 in Germany, and $161,000 in USA.
