Ford will end production of the C-Max and Grand C-Max minivans at its Saarlouis, Germany, factory at the end of June 2019 due to slow sales.
Sales of minivans in Europe have slumped as a buyers move to SUV and crossovers, so Ford is investing more and more in its crossover range, with the new Kuga unveiled this week and the Fiesta based Puma coming soon.
With the second generation C-Max and Grand C-Max at the end of their current lifecycles, Ford has decided not to renew the vehicles, and both will cease production in Germany by the end of June.
Which is sad, because both cars are far more practical than any SUV.
Production at the Saarlouis factory will then go from three to two shifts, with extra production room given to high end variants of the Focus range.
