The 2019 Toyota Prius AWD has been teased ahead of its debut at the end of November, and it is promised to “[perform] on roads whether snowy or clear.”
The Toyota Prius once had the hybrid game (mostly) to itself, now it’s fending off competitors from everywhere. The new AWD model should help to give the Prius a leg up over its competition, like the Chevrolet volt, Hyundai Ioniq, and Kia Niro, which are all FWD only models.
The new Prius AWD will probably have the E-Four system used in the Lexus UX and JDM Prius, which has a rear electric motor that can be can be disconnected at speeds over 70km/h (43mph) to improve fuel economy.
