After four years in the Big Apple, Cadillac is moving its headquarters back to Motor City with its boss citing “inefficiencies” as the main reason.
Former boss John de Nysschen moved the company’s top management and marketing departments to NYC in order to give the brand more independence from the rest of GM, and be more in tune with today’s luxury buyers.
Despite the move, product development and research remained in Detroit with the rest of GM.
Steve Carlisle, the GM lifer who was appointed a de Nysschen’s successor after he was fired, told The Wall Street Journal, “We’ve got to think about how we take inefficiencies out of the communication process between the Cadillac team and the GM partners.”
