Nissan Pulsar axed in Europe as crossovers run riot

Nissan has confirmed production of the Pulsar hatch in Europe has ended as customers are abandoning traditional body styles for crossovers.

Production of the Pulsar ended in June at the company’s factory in Barcelona, Spain. The C13 Pulsar was introduced in 2014, and specially designed to take on the Volkswagen Golf.

The company had hoped to sell around 65,000 per year, but last year just 25,221 were sold in Europe.

Nissan told Automotive News Europe it decided to end production because of “a rapidly increasing switch by European customers from traditional vehicle segments to crossovers”.
