The Nissan Titan will gain a V6 engine option, but only after the next generation Frontier debuts. So fleet and work customers will have to wait a while.
Nissan has again confirmed it is working on a new model to replace the ageing Frontier, although it’s not known if it will be based on the newer D23 NP300 Navara, the current D40 chassis, or something else entirely.
“A new Frontier is on its way, and a V6 is more geared toward that segment,” Michael Bunce, Nissan North America’s product planning chief, told WardsAuto in an interview.
“Both [Frontier and Titan] are built in the same plant in Mississippi, so that opportunity is being looked at for Titan also.”
It looks like the V6 will get first use in the Frontier before being also used in the Titan. The V6 Titan will appeal more to work buyers who don’t need the V8.
