The next generation Ford Escape and Lincoln MKC will be available with a plugin hybrid powertrain as one of 13 new electrified models from the company.
The new Escape and MKC plugin hybrids are due in 2019 for the 2020 model year. They will be joined in 2020 by a full EV SUV.
The Escape was offered as a hybrid in its second US generation, and was the only hybrid SUV in its class before the powertrain was discontinued in 2012 in favor of the C-Max small minivan, which is available with both regular hybrid and plugin hybrid powertrains.
