2018 Ford Explorer: Small facelift, more features for ageing SUV

The 2018 Ford Explorer update has a new grille, front and rear bumpers, Explorer badging on the hood, and new tech and safety features.


Available technology on the 2018 Ford Explorer includes 4G LTE internet, Wi-Fi hotspot, a Sync 3 infotainment system, and remote start, lock and location.

A new Safe and Smart package for the Explorer bundles together adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake support, blindspot monitoring, lane keeping assist, automatic high beam and rain sensing wipers.

There are three engines available: the standard 3.5-liter V6 with 290hp (220kW) at 6,500rpm and 255 lb-ft (346Nm) at 4,000rpm; a 2.3-liter turbo 4-cylinder with 280hp (209kW) at 5,500rpm and 310 lb-ft (420Nm) at 3,000rpm; and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 365hp (272kW) at 5,500rpm and 350 lb-ft (475Nm) at 3,500rpm.

Sales of the 2018 Ford Explorer begin in the fall of 2017.
