2018 Range Rover Velar vs Range Rover Sport: Picture comparison

The new Range Rover Velar sits between the Evoque and the Sport. We do a side-by-side comparison to see how different is the new Rangie to the Sport.

The new Velar rides on the same aluminium-intensive iQ-Al platform that underpins the Jaguar XE and XF, and the closely related F-Pace.

Velar
Sport
At the front, there's a strong family connection between the Velar, Sport and full-size Range Rover wagon, with thin pulled back headlights, the brand's signature grille, and clean crisp surfacing.
Velar
Sport
The Sport is pitched as a sportier version of the signature full-size Range Rover, but the new Velar trumps it several times over with even more aggressive styling, and super cool flush flip-out door handles, like ones used on the Jaguar F-Type.
Velar
Sport
Blacked out roofs and fast tailgate designs are all the rage, and again the Velar trumps the larger Sport in this regard.

Sport
The Velar's dashboard continues on with Range Rover's latest design theme, and comes with plenty of high quality Scottish leather. The Velar's standout features are the new infotainment system, and capacitive buttons in the centre console and for the climate control system.
Velar
Sport
Both the Velar and Sport have sports car-style seats, but the larger Sport can seat up to seven people, while the Velar maxes out at five.
Velar
Sport
Based on the Jaguar F-Pace, the smaller Velar's most powerful engine, for now, is a 283kW (380hp) 3-liter supercharged V6. If you want V8 power, you'll have to step up to the Sport, which has a range topping SVR model with a 5-liter supercharged V8, and 405kW/680Nm (543hp/502 lb-ft).
