The 2018 model year facelift for the Ford F-150 has a bolder and more controversial grille, as well as more technology and a new diesel engine option.
Once you get past the big bad new grille, there’s also a range of new engines to enjoy.
The new standard engine in the updated F-150 range is a 3.3-liter direct injection V6, which replaces the previous 3.5-liter V6. Both engines produce 282hp (210kW) and 253 lb-ft (343Nm).
There’s an upgraded 2.7-liter turbo (EcoBoost) V6, which now has both port and direct injection. Both the 3.3 and 2.7-liter V6 engines come with a standard 10-speed automatic.
Ford has also given the 5-liter V8 extra power and torque, but won’t say how much just yet.
The 2018 F-150 is the first to come with the option of a diesel engine in the form of the newly developed 3-liter PowerStroke turbo-diesel, which come standard with the 10-speed auto.
All models now feature automatic engine stop/start, a first for the pickup truck segment.
New technology features include active cruise control with stop and go functionality, pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, 4G LTE internet and Wi-Fi hot spot, and a B&O Play audio system.
The updated Ford F-150 goes on sale during the fall of 2017.
