The Mark VII Ford Fiesta is a bit larger and lot less exciting to look at, but the interior no longer looks like it’s made out of crap second hand plastic.
Available in 3- and 5- door hatchbacks, the new Fiesta is available for the first time in high end Vignale trim with quilted diamond pattern leather, an 8-inch Sync 3touchscreen, and a B&O Play sound system.
Other available features include assisted parking, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, parking sensors, pedestrian detection, traffic sign recognition, and lane keeping assistance.
There are two 3-cylinder gas engines. The base engine is a naturally aspirated 1.1-liter in 51kW (69hp) and 63kW (83hp) with a 5-speed manual.
Next there’s a 1-liter turbocharged gas engine with 74kW (99hp), and either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed auto. The more powerful 92kW (123hp) and 103kW (138hp) with a 6-speed manual.
There’s also a 1.5-liter turbo-diesel with a 6-speed manual in both 63kW (84hp) and 88kW (118hp).
The Ford Fiesta goes on sale in Europe in 2017. No news about whether it will be sold in the USA.
