In announcing a tentative deal with Ford, a Unifor official has revealed that the Ford Flex wagon will go out of production in 2020 without a replacement.
Bob Scott said that the Ford Flex will be discontinued, with production at the Oakville plant to cease in 2020. He didn’t say whether the Flex’s platform buddy, the Lincoln MKT, will be discontinued or refreshed for a new generation.
The factory also produces the Ford Edge and the related Lincoln MKX.
As part of the deal with the union, Ford has committed to investing US$700 million in its Canadian plants. Much of the money will go to new engine production at Windsor that will begin in 2019 or 2020.
