The next generation Citroen C4 and C5 ranges will ditch the hatchback in favor of SUV body styles.
Xavier Peugeot, head of product planning at Citroen, confirmed at the recent launch of the new C3 that the next generation C4 and C5 models might be quite different to the pretty, but fairly standard hatchbacks available today.
It’s probable that the C4 and C5 themselves will be dropped entirely, with the C5 replaced by the C5 Aircross based on the earlier Aircross concept, and the C4’s place taken over by another SUV or crossover style vehicle.
Peugeot said, “There will be a new C4 but it will not be conventional. It is possible to change the image of a model name and we can do that with that car. Perhaps we will change its silhouette.”
