The new European Ford Ka+ is a different beast to the two generations before it. Namely it has 5-doors and is built in India.
It’s also significantly larger than the first two Ford Ka generations. At 3,886mm, it’s only marginally shorter than the 3,950mm Fiesta, and is actually 20mm taller. The Fiesta is being pitched as more upmarket, while the Ka+ is being sold as a car that can take on the Dacia Sandero.
Both the third generation Ka+ and the second generation Ka are priced from £8,995. While the second generation Ka is based on the Fiat 500 and Lancia Ypsilon, and built by Fiat in Poland, the new Ka+ was designed in Brazil for developing markets.
The new Ford Ka+ has a 1.2-liter I4 Duratec engine with either 70PS (51kW) in the Studio model or 85PS (63kW) in the Zetec, and a standard 5-speed manual.
The Ka+ Studio has standard electric front windows and mirrors, fog lamps, AM/FM radio with Bluetooth, six airbags, stability control, hill start assist, speed limiter, cap less fuel filler, and a deflation detection system.
The Ka+ Zetec adds 15-inch alloys, manual air-conditioning, DAB digital radio with CD player and Sync voice control, leather covered steering wheel, and cruise control.
Options on the Zetec include climate control, heated front seats, tinted glass, rear parking sensors, power rear windows, and electric folding door mirrors.
