A highly modified R35 Nissan GT-R has set a Guinness world record for the world’s fastest ever drift, with a speed of 304.96km/h (189.5mph).
The record was set with Masato Kawabata, a Japanese drift champion, behind the wheel at the 3km (1.9mi) airstrip at the Fujiarah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates. For the record attempt, Kawabata had to do three runs and maintain a minimum 30 degree drift angle.
The 2016 model year Nissan GT-R was prepared by GReddy Trust and has an engine tuned to develop 1,380hp (1,029kW). The car was fitted with a Recaro bucket seat for the driver, RAYS lightweight alloy wheels, and Toyo drift tires.
