2017 Nissan GT-R update: V-motion grille, more power, new interior

Despite looking almost unchanged, the 2017 model year facelift for the R35 Nissan GT-R delivers a big improvement, especially as a daily driver.

The 2017 R35 Nissan GT-R has a new V-motion grille, new hood, redesigned front lip spoiler and front bumper, wider sills, and taller rear bumper. The car’s coefficient of drag remains 0.26, though.

The body is said to be stiffer, and the car rides on new 20-inch 15-spoke forged aluminum wheels.

Under the new hood is an updated version of the car’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6, which now develops 565hp (421kW) at 6,800rpm and 467 lb-ft (633Nm). That’s an increase of 20hp (15kW) and 4 lb-ft (5Nm).

Perhaps the biggest change is in the interior, where the car has an all new dashboard. The new dash better matches the car’s luxury pricing with much improved materials and lots of leather, a new 8-inch capacitive touchscreen (replacing the old 7-inch unit), and a much reduced switch count (from 27 to 11). There’s also new lighter, more supportive front seats.
