The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS, possible a coupe like model based on the Ultimate Luxury concept, will be built in Alabama alongside the regular GLS.
The Vance, Alabama, site is the global hub for the Mercedes-Benz GLE, GLE Coupe and GLS models, so it makes sense for the GLS based Maybach model to built there too.
Its primary markets will be the US, and China.
Dietmar Exler, Mercedes-Benz USA CEO, confirmed the news to Automotive News, and said the vehicle will become a “halo car.”
The Maybach GLS will have a V8 with over 560hp (418kW). It will make its debut later this year before going on sale in 2020.
