2021 BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe: The i4 with ICE engines

Not ready for the i4 and its electric motors, but still want a luxury liftback? The 4-Series Gran Coupe wants your money.

The i4 (G26) and the second generation (G24) have the same body, but styling changes for the bumpers and wheels.

There are three engines at launch for the 4-Series Gran Coupe:

The M440i xDrive has a 3L turbo I6 mild hybrid with 275kW (369hp) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft). An 8-speed auto and AWD are standard, so it has a 0-100km/h in 4.7s, and a top speed of 250km/h (155mph).

The 430i has a 2L turbo I4 with 180kW (241hp) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft). While it also has an 8-speed auto, it’s only RWD, so the 0-100km/h takes 6.2, and has a top speed of 250km/h (155mph).

The 420i has a 2L turbo I4 with 135kW (181hp) and 300Nm (221 lb-ft). It’s also 8-speed auto and RWD, the 0-100km/h takes 7.9s, and has a top speed of 235km/h (146mph).

If you want to cross shop with the i4, here are the launch models for that car:

The i4 eDrive40 has a 250kW (335hp) and 430Nm (317 lb-ft), RWD, a 0-100km/h time of 5.7s, a top speed of 190km/h (118mph), and a 590km (367mi) WLTP range.

The i4 M50 has two motors for a total of 400kW (536hp) and 795Nm (586 lb-ft), AWD, a 0-100km/h time of 3.9s, a top speed of 225km/h (140mph), and 510km (317mi) WLTP range.
