The 2020 Smart ForTwo and ForFour are electric only, and have new LED headlamp and taillamp graphics, a single large grille, and new bumpers.
There’s also improved infotainment, and remote connectivity to the car, but that’s about it for the changes because the thing that really needed upgrading (the powertrain) has been left untouched.
The ForTwo hatch and cabrio, and ForFour hatch all come with only one electric powertrain. The electric motor has 60kW (80hp) and 160Nm (118 lb-ft), and drives the rear wheels.
A small battery pack means NEDC range is only 140km (87mi) to 147km (91mi) depending on the model. The 0-100km/h time is a leisurely 11.6s in the ForTwo hatch and a slow 12.7s in the ForFour.
Top speed in all models is 130km/h (81mph).
