In a suprise to noone, the 3L twin-turbo mild hybrid I6 powertrain from the GLE53 will also be available in the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE53 Coupe.
The 3L twin-turbo I6 has 320kW (435hp) at 6,100rpm, and 520Nm (384 lb-ft) between 1,800 and 5,800rpm. The EQ Boost starter-alternator/electric motor can add 16kW (21hp) and 250Nm (184 lb-ft).
There’s 4Matic+ AWD, and 9-speed auto. Although the GLE53 Coupe has a shorter wheelbase and sportier body, both the GLE53 SUV and GLE53 Coupe have a 0-100km/h time of 5.3s, and an electronically limited speed of 250km/h (155mph).
Standard features in variable ratio sports steering, bigger brakes (400mm / 15.8″ front, 345mm / 13.6″ rear), air suspension, active dampers, and pneumatic self-levelling that lowers the car by 15mm (0.6″) when its going at speeds over 120km/h (74mph).
