The 2020 McLaren 620R coupe is based on the 570S GT4 race car, and production will be limited to 350 vehicles.
The 620R uses the same M838TE 3.8L twin-turbo V8 engine as the 570S GT4 car, but with more power as it doesn’t need to fit in with race regulations. It makes 455kW (610hp) and 620Nm (457 lb-ft), and has a 7-speed DCT.
The 0-100km/h time is 2.9s, 0-200km/h takes 8.1s, and quarter mile needs 10.4s. Top speed is 322km/h (200mph).
The 620R has 2-way manually adjustable coilover motorsport dampers that are 6kg (13 lb) lighter than the standard Sports Series units, stiffer antiroll bars, carbon ceramic discs with forged aluminum calipers, and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tires with fully slick tires optional.
There’s also the same adjustable carbonfiber rear wing as the 570S GT4, and new bumper, hood and splitter. North American models can be fitted with a gloss finish carbonfiber roof with scoop, and track telemetry system at no extra cost.
Production begins January 2020, and prices start from US$299,000.
