The new fourth generation Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator twins will gain a hybrid option in 2019, as one of 13 new electrified models from the company.
Both the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator were redesigned for the 2018 model year, and share a platform with the Ford F-150. Like the pickup truck, the SUVs have aluminum body panels for lowered weight and improved mileage.
Both the Expedition and Navigator are available only with a 3.5-liter turbo V6. A hybrid version of each will provide further difference with the competing Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade.
The GM SUVs used to feature mild hybrid models, but these have been discontinued, and they are only available with V8 engines.
