The better looking, better handling 2019 Toyota Corolla goes on sale in the summer of 2018 with a starting price of US$20,910 and a standard 6-speed manual transmission.
Based on the European Toyota Auris, the new American Corolla hatch will be available in just two grades:
- US$20,910 – SE manual (28mpg city, 37mpg highway, 31mpg combined)
- US$22,010 – SE CVT (32 / 42/ 36)
- US$23,910 – XSE manual (TBD)
- US$25,010 – XSE CVT (30 / 38 / 33)
All Corolla hatches will be fitted with a 2-liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder engine with 168hp (125kW) and 151 lb-ft (205Nm). The EG60 6-speed manual is standard on both grades. A CVT with 10 simulated gears, and a real, actual launch gear is a US$1,100 option.
The Corolla SE hatch has standard 17-inch alloy wheels, single zone climate control, 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 (adaptive cruise control, automated braking, lane keeping assist, road sign recognition, auto high beam), LED headlamps and taillamps, leather shift knob, paddle shifters for the CVT, electronic parking brake, 2 USB ports, and a chrome rear diffuser.
The Corolla XSE gains 18-inch wheels, dual zone climate control, leather and fabric seats, heated front seats, 8-way power driver’s seat, better trim, a 7-inch instrumentation display, LED foglamps, and chrome grille.
Options include adaptive front lighting, and an 8-speaker 800W JBL sound system.
