The 2019 Suzuki Jimny has a new “heritage” body, a new ladder frame and platform, and serious offroad ability with a 4WD system and low range gearing.
In Europe the new Jimny has a 1.5L 4-cylinder gas engine with 75kW (101hp) at 6,000rpm, and 130Nm (96 lb-ft) at 4,000rpm. A 5-speed manual is standard, a 4-speed auto is optional. The old model had a 1.3L engine.
Part-time 4WD is standard, as is a low range transfer case offering 2WD-high gear, 4WD-high gear, and 4WD-low gear modes. There’s also brake LSD traction control, hill hold, hill descent control, tire pressure monitoring, and 3-link solid axles at both ends.
The Jimny has 4 seats, 377L (13.3 cu ft) of trunk space (+53L or 1.9 cu ft), and a simple dashboard. Available technology includes 6 airbags, automated emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and a 7″ touchscreen
