The new 2019 Ram 1500 pickup truck will be launched in early 2018, and will be sold alongside the current pickup, which will be a cheaper option for fleets.
The strategy is currently used by FCA for its minivans, where the new Chrysler Pacifica is targeted at private buyers, with the Dodge Grand Caravan carrying on for a time as a special for fleets.
The new 2019 Ram 1500 will be built at the Sterling Heights factory, which previously made the unsuccessful and discontinued Chrysler 200 sedan.
According to Automotive News, the current DS/DJ Ram 1500 pickup will initially continue to be built at Warren Truck Plant and Saltillo, Mexico, before they transition to the new product later on.
