Magna Steyr’s factory in Graz, Austria, has begun producing the all new second generation W464 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, where it will be built alongside the old model.
The new car is bigger, more luxurious, still capable offroad, but compliant with all modern safety and emissions regulations. And in a world where tough super expensive SUVs rule, it will print money for Daimler and Magna Steyr.
According to Road & Track, Magna Steyr will continue producing the first generation model. But, just not the one specced up with crazy V8 engines, 22-inch wheels, leather and gold.
No, the civilian W463 beloved by the rappers and the crazy rich is out of production, but the commercial and military grade W461 is still going strong.
Named the G-Class Professional, it can be bought in Australia, the Middle East, Germany, and wherever else you can still buy legally or with exception a Euro 5 compliant car.
It’s available in 4-door wagon, cab-chassis, and 6×6.
