Hyundai USA has confirmed the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe won’t be getting a turbodiesel version with seven seats after all because, well, thanks Volkswagen.
Brandon Ramirez, a Hyundai spokesman, confirmed to Green Car Reports the diesel Santa Fe is now off the cars because research indicates buyers just aren’t interested in diesel crossovers any more.
And because the seven seat Santa Fe was only going to be offered in the US with the diesel, that’s off the menu too. If you want a seven seat Hyundai, you’ll have to step up to the V6 only 2020 Palisade.
The Santa Fe will continue as is with five seats, and 4-cylinder turbo and non turbo gas engines in the US. A plug in hybrid version of the Santa Fe is a possibility though.
