The Hyundai i20 N will reportedly hit Europe in 2019, and will have a 1.6-liter turbo 4-cylinder, FWD and a manual transmission.
Albert Biermann, head of Hyundai N, told AutoExpress, “Why would we limit ourselves to C-segment? There are tons of hot superminis out there – Polo GTI, Fiesta ST, Peugeot 208 and even Toyota now is doing one [Yaris GRMN]. There’s a good market out there.”
AutoExpress says the i20 N will have around 200hp (150kW), and some models will have an electronic differential lock.
The i20 N will come to the market after the i30 N, next generation Veloster N, and i30 N liftback are launched over the next 18 months.
Styling for the five door i20 N will be relatively subtle, with the three door version gaining more out there styling. The i20 N will leverage Hyundai WRC car, which is a heavily modified i20.
