One of America’s best sellers, the Honda Civic sedan has been given a facelift for 2019. See the differences and changes in this side by side comparison.

As you can see, minor update is closer to the truth than facelift. Given the car's strong sales, and positive reception in the media, Honda probably figured it didn't have to do much to the Civic to keep it fresh, which makes a nice change from the previous generation model, which required immediate attention.

For the 2019 model year, the Civic's wing grille has been changed from chrome to gloss black. The front bumper is new too with a full width lower air intake design and splitter. There's also a bit of chrome around the fog light pods.

The regular headlights have been blacked out, and the LED units (seen here) have had their beams adjusted to be wider and longer.

No sheet metal changes, just a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels on the Limited (seen here) and some new colour choices.

The tail-lights carry over unchanged. Honda Sensing is now standard in all models, and includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assistance, road departure mitigation, and automatic high beams.

Honda says the changes to the interior are 'minor'. From what we can see the company is now using darker shade of grey for the fake metal trim.

There's more interior sound insulation in the floor, trunk, and front and rear fenders. The centre console cupholder has been redesigned

The controls on the steering wheel spokes have changed slightly for 'more intuitive operation'.

The Display Audio infotainment system (seen here) is standard on all models from the Sport on up, and includes a physical volume dial and power button. Hooray!

A 6-speed manual is still available on the Sport trim and base LX, but most cars will again be sold with a CVT.
