After a wait of 19 years, the BMW 8 Series has entered its second generation, and holy crap its sexy AF. Finally BMW has an S-Class coupe competitor!
At launch there will be two engines available. The M850i xDrive has a twin turbo 4.4-liter V8 with 390kW (530hp) between 5,500 and 6,000rpm, and 750Nm (553 lb-ft) between 1,800 and 4,600rpm. Top speed is 250km/h (155mph), and 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds.
The 840d xDrive has a 3-liter I6 turbo diesel with 235kW (320hp) at 4,400rpm, and 680Nm (501 lb-ft) between 1,750 and 2,250rpm. 0-100km/h in 4.9s, and a top speed of 250km/h (155mph).
Standard features include Adaptive M suspension, Integral Active Steering, weight saving aluminum and carbonfiber parts, double bubble roof, 50/50 split folding rear seats, and head-up display.
Other features include a new all digital instrumentation screen, touchscreen iDrive infotainment system, glass interior trim, slim Laserlight headlamps, 19″ M Sport brakes, 20″ wheels, active roll stabilization, wireless smartphone charging, a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, display key, and parking assistance.
