The facelifted Mark 7.5 Volkswagen Golf R hatch and wagon have only minor adjustments to the exterior, but the engine has been given more power and torque.
Power from the 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gas engine has been increased to 228kW (306hp), up 7kW (10hp) on the original Mark VII Golf R. Torque has been increased to 400Nm (295 lb-ft), up 20Nm (15 lb-ft).
It now has a 0 to 100km/h time of 4.6s. The Golf R has AWD and a 6-speed manual standard, with a 6-speed DSG optional.
