Although production of the Tesla Model 3 has still yet to hit 5,000 cars per week, and the company has yet to make any US$35,000 models, Elon Musk has announced new AWD and AWD Performance variants.
The Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor AWD model is based on the Long Range variant is US$5,000 more. Priced at US$49,000, the Model 3 AWD has 310mi (499km) of range, 0-60mph in 4.5s, and a top speed of 140mph (225km/h).
There will also be a range topping Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor AWD Performance model. Priced at US$78,000, it includes all the options, except Autopilot.
Musk says, “[It costs] About same as BMW M3, but 15% quicker & with better handling. Will beat anything in its class on the track.”
The Model 3 Performance has 310mi (499km) of range, 0-60mph in 3.5s, and a top speed of 155mph (249km/h).
For comparison, the US$44,000 Long Range edition has 310mi (490km) of range, a 0-60mph time of 5.1s, and a top speed of 140mph (225km/h).
