The 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 facelift has a 4-liter twin turbo V8 instead of the old 5.5-liter twin turbo V8, and despite losing 1.5 liters, it’s more powerful.
The 4-liter twin turbo V8 with cylinder deactivation, and turbochargers inside the V, is used in other AMG models, and in the S63 4Matic+ it has 603hp between 5,500 and 6,000rpm, and 664 lb-ft between 2,750 and 4,500rpm.
That’s 26hp more than the old 5.5-liter twin turbo V8.
There’s also 20-inch wheels, permanent all wheel drive with variable torque split, and a 9-speed auto replaces the old 7-speed auto.
With the Race Start launch control system, the S63 4Matic+ has a 0-60mph time of 3.4s.
