The second generation Mazda CX-5 will be the first Mazda sold in the US with a diesel engine. The new SUV looks like a shrunken down CX-9.
Despite looking all new, the CX-5 rides on an updated version of the current CX-5’s SkyActiv chassis. The second generation CX-5 does have an all new body, and an all new much more luxurious interior.
Tech includes G-Vectoring Control, a 4.6-inch multifunction instrument display, and a heads up display.
The new Mazda CX-5 goes on sale in North America in the second half of 2017. Production and sales in Japan begins in February.
It will be available with a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder turbo-diesel, a first for the brand in North America, and a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gas engine.
CX-5s sold in Europe, Asia and elsewhere will also be available with a 2-liter 4-cylinder gas engine.
