Maserati has shuffled its product plans, with the new Granturismo and Grancabrio due in 2018 and 2019, and the 2-seat Alfieri coming in 2020-2021.
“The Granturismo and Grancabrio will not be dropped. We won’t forget that Maserati is very well known in its history for beautiful 2+2 GT cars and we will replace them, then the Alfieri,” Giulio Pastore, general manager of Maserati Europe, told Autocar.
The current Granturismo coupe has been on sale since 2007, and the Grancabrio since 2010. Both will be in need of replacement soon.
The Alfieri 2-seat sports coupe wowed showgoers at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, and was due to be on sale this year, but like everything else at FCA is being delayed or pushed back.
Pastore ruled out a new smaller SUV to sit underneath the Levante, as the upcoming Alfa Romeo Stelvio will now take up that role within the FCA hierarchy.
