2018 Kia Stinger: RWD, 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6, shut up, take our money now

Developed from the Kia GT concept and tuned by Albert Biermann previously of BMW, the Kia Stinger is a RWD sports liftback with an optional twin-turbo V6.


The standard engine in the Stinger is a 2-liter turbo 4-cylinder with 255hp (190kW) at 6,200rpm, and 260 lb-ft (353Nm) between 1,400 and 4,000rpm.

The version that will get everyone’s juices flowing is the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with 365hp (272kW) at around 6,000rpm, and 376 lb-ft (510Nm) between 1,300 and 4,500rpm. The 3.3-liter will have a 0 to 100km/h (0 to 62mph) time of 5.1 seconds, and a top speed of 167mph (269km/h).

Both the I4 and V6 will come with an 8-speed auto and RWD as standard. A rear biased AWD with torque vectoring is an option.

The I4 will have 18-inch wheels with 225/45 performance tires. The V6 will have 19-inch wheels, and 225/40 tires at the front, and 255/35 tires at the rear. The V6 also has vented Brembo brakes with 4-piston calipers at the front, and 2-piston calipers at the rear.

There’s MacPherson front suspension, and multi-link rear suspension, rack mounted electric power steering, and lots of safety equipment, including autonomous emergency braking, smart cruise control, and lane keeping assistance.
