The new seventh generation Ford Fiesta won’t be coming to the USA, even in limited numbers in hot ST trim. So, we hope you all enjoy the EcoSport. Yawn!
We knew in July the new Fiesta wasn’t coming to the USA, but the company left the door open (slightly) for the ST to come here in small numbers.
That door just got slammed shut.
Leo Roeks, Ford Performance of Europe Director, told CarBuzz, “It’s simply a matter of a lack of interest in the B-segment in America. It doesn’t make sense, nor is it possible financially speaking, to import a single trim level, and a niche one at that.”
So, that’s that.
No pint sized hatch with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder gas engine with 147kW (197hp) and 290Nm (214 lb-ft), and a 0 to 100km/h time of 6.2s.
Sad.
In the Fiesta’s place is the facelifted 2018 EcoSport. Hooray?
