Ford has confirmed in an investor call that the fourth generation Expedition will use a lighter aluminum body that will make it lighter, faster, and more efficient.
Based as it will be on the 13th generation Ford F-150 pickup truck, which also has an aluminum body, this isn’t much of a surprise.
Ford confirmed that the new Expedition will debut in 2017 as a 2018 model year car. The Expedition will be powered by a 3.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine. It might even come with a small 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 too.
Along with its twin, the Lincoln Navigator, the Ford SUV has trailed a long way behind General Motors’ offerings, the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade.
