The Mark VI Volkswagen Polo GTI looks better, but so familiar. It rides on the larger MQB-A0 platform and has a larger 2-liter turbo I4 with FWD.
The 2-liter turbo 4-cylinder gas engine with 147kW (197hp), where the Mark V Polo GTI had a 141kW (189hp) 1.8-liter turbo. A 6-speed manual is standard, a 7-speed DSG is optional.
There’s a new front bumper, red stripe for the grille, black roof spoiler, twin exhaust tips on the left, 17-inch wheels, leather steering wheel with red stitching, sports seats with Clark tartan trim, black rooflining, ambient lighting and LED taillamps.
Options include LED headlamps with integrated red stripe, and 18-inch wheels.
