The 2017 Toyota Vitz has a redesigned front bumper with a new grille, intakes and bumpers, and the option of a hybrid with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine.
The updated JDM Vitz, known as the Yaris in the EU and the US, gains a set of hybrid models, all with a 73kW (98hp) hybrid powertrain.
The hybrid system has a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gas engine with 54kW (72hp) at 4,800rpm, and 111Nm (82 lb-ft) between 3,600 and 4,400rpm. It also has an electric motor with 45kW (60hp) and 169Nm (125 lb-ft), and a nickel-metal hydride battery.
Although the convention gas Vitz range has optional AWD, the Vitz Hybrid is only FWD. Prices go from ¥1,819,800 (US$15,900) to ¥2,237,760 (US$19,600).
