The fourth generation JDM Suzuki Swift has made its debut with Jaguar inspired styling, a new platform, and much lower weight.
Built on the new Heartect platform, the Swift is between 30kg (66 lb) and 160kg (353 lb) lighter than before, and is slightly larger than the third generation model.
There are six trim levels in the new JDM Swift range: XG, XL, Hybrid ML, RS, Hybrid RS, and RSt.
The RSt has a turbo 1-liter 3-cylinder with 75kW (101hp) at 5,500rpm, and 150Nm (111 lb-ft) at 1,700 to 4,500rpm.
The rest of the range has a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder Dualjet with 67kW (90hp) at 6,000rpm, and 118Nm (87 lb-ft) at 4,400rpm.
The Swift’s mild hybrid models also have an integrated starter generator with 2.3kW (3.1hp) and 50Nm (37 lb-ft), and a lithium-ion battery.
FWD is standard, AWD is optional on some Swift models. Transmissions available include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed auto, and CVT.
Available technology includes LED headlamps, 15 or 16-inch wheels, touchscreen infotainment with navigation and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, backup camera, paddle shifters, six airbags, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise.
