The North American Chevrolet Colorado will gain a new, more powerful 3.6-liter V6 engine, and a class leading 8-speed auto for the 2017 model year.
The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado will be available with the new second generation DOHC 3.6-liter V6, which makes 308hp (230kW) at 6,800rpm, and 275 lb-ft (373Nm) at 4,000rpm.
Although the displacement is the same as the old engine there’s updated variable valve timing and direct injection, and a new cylinder deactivation system that can turn off two cylinders under light load.
The new V6 engine is paired to a Hydra-Matic 8L45 8-speed auto that replace the 6L80 6-speed unit. The 8L45 has an overall gear ratio of 7.0, while the 6L80 had a 6.0 ratio.
