Based on the second generation Acura NSX, the GT3 race car has a modified body shell and much simplified drivetrain compared to the production car.
The Acura NSX GT3 is powered by the same twin-turbo 3.5-liter 75-degree DOHC V6 as the NSX production car. The race car, though, doesn’t have electric motors helping it out. Instead it drives the rear wheels exclusively through a 6-speed sequential shift gearbox.
Built at the same small scale Ohio plant as the NSX road car, the NSX GT3 has customized body work with new large rear wing spoiler, underbody diffuser and enlarged hood vents.
The NSX GT3 will be ready in time for the 2017 North American racing calendar.
