Many thought we’d get a Ford Fiesta RS, instead Ford has decided to give the eight year old Mark VI Fiesta an ever more powerful ST: the new Fiesta ST200.
Like the regular Fiesta ST, and unlike the new Focus RS, the new Fiesta ST200 is a front-wheel drive machine. Under the hood there’s a retuned 1.6-liter turbo (EcoBoost) I4 with 200PS (197hp/147kW) and 290Nm (214 lb-ft).
For up to 15 seconds, the 1.6-liter turbo can deliver an extra 15PS (15hp/11kW) and 30Nm (22 lb-ft) for a total of 215PS (212hp/158kW) and 320Nm (236 lb-ft).
There’s a shorter final drive ratio (now 4.06 compared to 3.82 on the regular ST). The ST200 can do 0 to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 230km/h (143mph). The regular ST with 182PS and 240Nm requires 6.9 seconds for the 0 to 100km/h run.
The ST200 is fitted exclusively with matte black 17-inch alloy wheels, and can be had with a unique Storm Grey exterior (pictured).
The ST’s torque vectoring control, modified front steering knuckle, stiffer rear twist beam, recalibrated suspension, sharper 13.69:1 steering, and larger brakes.
