2016 Buick LaCrosse Hybrid: China sedan does 4.7L/100km (50mpg)

A hybrid variant of the second generation Buick LaCrosse has made its debut at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show, and will be the first of 10 electrified cars for GM in China.


The Buick LaCrosse HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) has a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder gas engine with an electric variable transmission and a 1.5kWh lithium ion battery pack.

No power outputs have been quoted, the LaCrosse Hybrid can do the 0 to 100km/h run in 8.9 seconds. The LaCrosse Hybrid has a fuel economy rating of 4.7L/100km (50mpg) or around 35 percent better than the LaCrosse eAssist.

The Buick LaCrosse Hybrid debuts a new “Buick blue” logo for all the brand’s future green vehicles.

According to Larry Nitz, GM executive director of Global Propulsion Systems, “Over the next five years, we will roll out more than 10 new energy vehicles in China, including several models for Buick. That includes full hybrids, plug-in hybrids and extended-range electric vehicles.”
