Based on the new eight-generation (M70/M80) Hilux pickup, the second generation Toyota Fortuner was designed and engineered in Australia, but will be built in Thailand and other emerging markets, like Indonesia.
Compared to the first-gen car, the new Fortuner has bolder style with blacked out C-pillars for a floating roof look, and sharper details, as well as a Murano-like window kink.
The Fortuner will be available with all-wheel drive, a new generation turbo-diesel engine and seating for up to seven people.
In Australia the sole configuration is a 7-seat SUV with a 130kW/174hp 2.8-liter turbo-diesel. It has 450Nm/332 lb-ft of torque with a 6-speed auto and 420Nm/310 lb-ft with a 6-speed manual.
Available features include LED headlights, driving lights, 18-inch alloys, touchscreen infotainment and sat nav, reversing camera and sensors, roof rails, seven airbags, stability control, front and rear air conditioning, air conditioned storage, and hill-start assist.
