2014 Ford Falcon XR8 and XR6 revealed with Mustang-lite looks

Ford has finally revealed the front-end look of its final Falcon XR6 and XR8 sedans.

The final update for the Australian-produced Ford Falcon is set to go on sale in the fourth quarter, and will be spearheaded by the sporty XR6 and XR8 models, both of which have been revealed for the first time.

As you can see above, the revised cars retain most (if not all) the sheet metal of the outgoing FG Falcon, except for a new selection of bonnets and a new boot lid.

Revisions at the front include slimmer headlights, and a grille and bumper treatment that mimics those seen on the Mustang, Mondeo, Focus and Fiesta. Like earlier V8 models, the revived XR8 features a prominent bonnet bulge.

The XR models are distinguished from the rest of the Falcon range by U-shaped LED driving lights surrounding the main and high beam units. These are said to recall the double bubble and round headlight treatments of yore.

Ford has yet to issue photos of car’s complete rear-end, but it says that the XR models will feature LED tail-lights.
