With Scion being phased out, the Scion iM will live on as the Toyota Corolla iM, making it the first Corolla based hatch in the US for 24 years.
The Scion iM, which is an American version of the Corolla-based E180 Auris hatch sold in Asia and Europe, will continue as the Corolla iM.
This marks a return of the hatchback body to the Corolla nameplate in the USA. The last Corolla hatch was sold was the sixth generation E90, which ended in 1992.
There have, of course, been Corolla-based hatches sold under the Toyota brand in that time, most notably the tall body Matrix hatch. The Matrix was also sold with much more attractive styling as the Pontiac Vibe.
